Banned Books Week Founder Judith Krug, R.I.P.

Judith Krug, the head of the American Library Association's Office of Intellectual Freedom and the founder of Banned Books Week, died of cancer on Saturday, April 11. She was 69. She headed up the ALA's Office of Intellectual Freedom since 1967 and she helped to institute Banned Books Week in 1982. She also led the ALA's Freedom to Read Foundation.
